Abstract
Cancer has emerged as a leading public health challenge in India, with a steadily increasing incidence and mortality burden. Over the past two decades, substantial research has been conducted across domains such as epidemiology, genomics, artificial intelligence, treatment innovations, and public health interventions. This review critically examines major research works and recent findings related to cancer in India. It highlights key advancements, including the development of indigenous genomic databases, integration of artificial intelligence in oncology, and the role of preventive strategies. Despite progress, persistent challenges such as late diagnosis, regional disparities, and limited infrastructure continue to hinder effective cancer control. The review concludes by emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and context-specific innovations to address India’s growing cancer burden.
